Event Details
If you are a homebrewer who would like to learn how to identify some of the more common off-flavors in your beer, or if you are interested in becoming a beer judge, this class is indispensable for learning about sensory evaluation.
Experienced beer judge and author Marty Nachel will take you through six of the most common off-flavors found in beer — Acetaldehyde, Diacetyl, Contamination, DMS, Isoamyl Acetate, Papery — so you can identify their characteristics and learn what causes them. This class includes beer tasting, so you must be 21+ to register and attend.
About the instructor:
Marty has been a BJCP judge since the program started in 1986 and he is now a professional beer judge at the Great American Beer Festival and FoBAB. He is the author of “Beer for Dummies” and “Homebrewing for Dummies”. He is also an instructor for the College of DuPage “Business of Craft Beer” certificate program.
